BE A GOOD NEIGHBOR

In the Spring 2016 Olathe Link
the City of Olathe published a quick list of reminders focused on yard upkeep. In the spirit of that note, we've reprinted some general reminders and guidelines to assist in keeping our community clean and maintaining our property value.
- LAWN MAINTENANCE: General lawn care and maintenance is expected from all homeowners. Help maintain the integrity of the neighborhood by keeping lawns mowed and edged, and shrubs trimmed as needed. This includes cleaning up grass clippings left on the sidewalks and streets. Per the Declaration of Covenants, Conditions and Restrictions for Woodland Creek, Article VII, Section 7.1: "..the owner and occupant of each lot shall cultivate an attractive ground cover or grass on all areas visible from the street,...and shall edge the street curbs that run along the property line and the sidewalks and driveway located on the lot. Grass, weeds and vegetation on each lot must be kept mowed at regular intervals so as to maintain the property in a neat and attractive manner. No owner shall permit weeds or grass to grow to a height of greater than six (6) inches upon its lot."
- TRASH: In order to prevent trash from blowing away on windy trash days and leaving a mess for your neighbors to clean, make sure all trash is well secured in trash bags and/or the City issued gray SmartCarts on trash day. Any other items (such as loose boxes) should also be secured. Per the City of Olathe, SmartCarts must be at the curb by 8am on your scheduled trash day and returned to your residence by 5pm the next day.
- YARD WASTE: We are requesting that homeowners place yard waste (grass clippings, brush, tree limbs) at the street curb no more than 48 hours before collection day. This will improve the overall appearance of the neighborhood, as well as deter vandals from scattering the material on sidewalks and streets. Per the City of Olathe, all yard waste collected curbside must be placed at the curb by 8am on your scheduled collection day. Limbs and brush must be less than 4 inches in diameter, cut to no longer than 4 feet in length, and securely tied in bundles weighing less than 50 lbs., and grass clippings, leaves, and small plant trimmings must be in compostable paper yard waste bags (no plastic bags). Compostable bags are available at most lawn and garden stores (Home Depot, Lowes, Ace), or from the City in bundles of 50 ($25 plus tax).
- PETS: When walking your pets, please be respectful of the public sidewalks, easements, and the properties of other homeowners. Always carry bags or a 'pooper scooper' to pick up waste. Please don't leave the "presents" for others to pick up.
Thank you! We can all demonstrate our mutual respect for each other's time, commitment, and property by following these simple steps.
